Small Acts, Big Impact: Celebrate the Season of Giving

As the PACU Foundation’s Annual Holiday Giving Campaign nears its end, we reflect on the many small acts of kindness and generosity from our members, employees and neighbors this year.

The $10 donation you made at your local PACU branch allowed a displaced father in Western N.C. to buy dinner that evening. The $5 bill that you found in the bottom of your purse went to support a first responder’s widow in Charlotte. The spare change in your car helped a single mom attend financial literacy courses.

Regardless of size, every donation went directly to programs that help residents in our communities overcome financial hardship.

The PACU Foundation saw firsthand the significant impact that small acts can have when we gave $31,200 to six local organizations on Giving Tuesday. Thanks to our generous donors, we’ve gifted over $100,000 to area charities since 2020.

“Giving Tuesday inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity,” said PACU Foundation President Jean Golden-Rumer on Giving Tuesday. “As such, we felt that this was an appropriate day to hold our check presentations to honor the spirit of Giving Tuesday.”

This year's recipients are A Storehouse for Jesus, Education Over Debt Foundation, Help, Incorporated’s Square One Family Justice Center, Jim Shaw ACE Academy, the Christian Mission and the Women’s Resource Center of Greensboro.

What better way to honor the season of giving than by creating a tradition of supporting beneficial programs in your community? Even though the end of our Annual Holiday Giving Campaign approaches, there is still time to share your generosity during the holidays.

The Foundation accepts donations year-round; however, those who donate $10 or more before the campaign ends on December 31st will receive a commemorative ornament as a thank-you.
