Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors, Meet Margie

Starting as a teller at PACU, Margie Finney worked her way up to Eden Branch Manager, and now she’s proudly serving as a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor.

Margie’s passion for finances and helping others runs deep, shaped by her parents’ experiences as small business owners. “Growing up, I learned the value of hard work, saving smart and being mindful about money,” she said as she thought about her earlier days in the small town of Eden, North Carolina.

For Margie, the most rewarding part of her role is helping people find solutions to their financial struggles. She loves meeting members and showing them practical ways to manage their finances.

 “I enjoy showing our members ways to save money, get out of debt and work on a plan,” Margie said, adding that seeing members relax knowing they have cash flow and less stress, “That’s what it’s all about.”

Margie doesn’t just talk the talk; she lives it. As a financial counselor, she applies the same tools and strategies she shares with members. “I find ways to cut expenses, save money and do things to help with my finances. When counseling members, I know exactly what they’re going through,” she said.

At PACU, financial counselors and branch managers like Margie create personal connections with members. “I love helping them find their footing and seeing their relief that we’ve come up with a plan together that’s going to benefit them,” she said.

Margie wishes more people knew about the financial services and benefits that credit unions like PACU can offer. “Our goal at PACU is to help you reach your goals and dreams but also to overcome challenges,” Margie said. “Our job is to help, not judge. We’re on your side.”

What is Margie’s number one advice? Have a rainy-day fund because, as she says, “It’s going to rain.” Being proactive is critical during challenging times. With Margie’s guidance, you can regain control of your financial situation, achieve your goals, and feel confident about your future.
