Simply Service Day 2024
In the spirit of Simply Service®, Piedmont Advantage Credit Union employees rolled up their sleeves and got to work at eight different service-oriented organizations on October 14, also known at PACU as Simply Service® Day.
While other financial institutions were closed for Columbus or Indigenous Peoples Day, PACU employees put in action our purpose statement, “Simply Service®.”
“We know that (Simply Service®) is our purpose statement,” said Megan Brooks, PACU’s Curriculum Development Specialist. “It’s about more than that. It’s about people helping people.”
PACU employees spent the day volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, Samaritan Ministries, Second Harvest Food Bank, Storehouse for Jesus, Bridge of Hearts, Goodwill, Help Inc. and Good Shepherd Wilmington.
The employees embodied having “servant’s hearts” by handing out community meals, sorting through clothes, doing yard work, cleaning and more.
“Having an opportunity to serve the hurting humanity as a team was such a joy,” said April Young, the University Branch Manager. “Simply Service® Day is just another avenue to helping.”
Simply Service® Day also gave some employees, who are not usually member or community facing, the opportunity to see firsthand the positive impact that they can have.
“My role is very internal-focused,” Megan said. “Simply Service® Day is our opportunity to get us all out in the community, right in front of people and make that difference.”
