Know Before You Go. Starting May 1, 2025, IDCheck will be used when you visit a Shared Branch in another state.
Let's set the scene
You’re out of state. Maybe you’re on vacation, visiting family or traveling for work and find yourself needing to visit a credit union other than ours.
- You pull up to a Shared Branch.
- You walk in.
- You approach the teller.
- And then: A new step.
Welcome to IDCheck, a fast, secure way to verify your identity before you complete a transaction at a Shared Branch credit union primarily when you’re out of state. Some credit unions within the Co-op Shared Branch Network may start using this verification regardless if you’re out of state, so be prepared.
So, what is IDCheck?
It’s a new security feature by Velera (formerly PSCU and Co-op Solutions) that helps protect your account (and peace of mind) when you bank at a participating credit union in the Co-op Shared Branch Network. If that credit union uses IDCheck, you’ll be asked to verify your identity using your mobile device before doing your transaction. This process is quick and easy. And once you’ve done it once, future visits are even faster.
Why it matters
- It’s for your protection. Identity theft and fraud are on the rise. This step adds a layer of security.
- It’s super simple. Scan a QR code. Take a quick selfie. Snap a photo of your ID. Done.
- It’s smart. Your information is encrypted and secure and only shared with the credit union you're visiting.
How it works
- Scan the QR code displayed inside the credit union.
- Tell IDCheck who you are. Enter your PACU account number and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- Snap a picture, front and back of your valid government-issued ID (no military IDs, sorry).
- Say cheese and take a quick selfie to verify it’s really you.
- Receive your access code and share it with the teller. That’s it.
IDCheck will remember you the next time you visit this credit union. If you’re using the same mobile device and your ID is still valid, the process is even faster.
Helpful tips
Before you head out, beginning May 1, 2025, it’s a good idea to check if the credit union you’re visiting uses IDCheck for out-of-state visitors only or all visitors in the Shared Branch Network. If you don’t have a mobile device (cell phone, iPad, Notebook), ask the visiting credit union if they offer one you can use on-site. A quick call ahead can save time and frustration.
